A Brief History of Serbia vs USA

The final result of Spain 2014 will look something like the image on the right. The image on the left is still a good image.

SLAM Scan: No. 15

The Panini Rookie Photo Shoot for the class of 2014 was conducted yesterday.

Any photo shoot prior to the season commencing is very important for a rookie.

For example, here's a young Kobe Bryant attempting to force the ball through his nasal bridge.

Bright moments always come back vivid.

On this day, Kobe welcomed the Nets to the 2002 NBA Finals with this Game 1 poster on T-Mac.

The footage would go on to feature in an NBA commercial for Mos Def's critically acclaimed 2009 release 'The Ecstatic'...

For the record (pardon the pun), Life in Marvelous Times is a bonkers track, and the remix wasn't bad either.

Jersey of the Week: George Lynch #24

In his three seasons with the Lakers, George Lynch managed to wear Kobe's number (24) and Shaq's number (34).
If this feat needs to be at all acknowledged, it may as well be here. Believe it or not he also found time to wear No. 30 at some stage before being shipped off to the Grizzlies.

This jersey was listed on eBay, but recently sold. Be sure to check daily for future offerings...

NB: The 24 jersey would be next worn by Lloyd 'Sweet Pea' Daniels, who we will get to in due course.

GIF of the Week: Chris Carr

Chris Carr?

Yes, Chris Carr, best remembered for this thunderous dunk on Mt. Mutombo:

Carr also performed admirably at the 1997 Slam Dunk Contest.

Jalen Rose enjoyed his work a little more than Kobe.

Happy Birthday Chris, we liked your dunks.

On this day: Shaquille O'Neal dropped 61 on the Clippers

"SHAQ 2000" was the ultimate one man wrecking crew. To celebrate his 28th birthday, he went off on the Clippers for a career high 61 points with 23 rebounds. The highlights are worth a watch.

Who Dunked It Better? Old Men Edition

Gerald Wallace spent his prime years putting on a show for a small market. Stuff like this happened every night:

What differentiated Wallace from other high flyers around the league at the time was that no one showed as little regard for their own well being as he did. His Wiki page provides adequate insight into the beating he has taken.

We can understand why Gerald isn't particularly pleased being on a rebuilding Celtics roster at this stage of his career. We are grateful however that he busted out this nasty dunk last night.

And then there is Kobe.
At yesterday's training session, Bryant was caught "elevating and detonating" like a 35 year old with one functioning Achilles. In all seriousness, it is great for the Lakers and the league to see this level of progress.

Knowing Nique successfully recovered for a torn Achilles at a similar age (he averaged close to 30ppg in his first season back), we have reason to be optimistic that Kobe will be competitive on his eventual return.

Who Self-Fouled Better? Michael Jordan vs Kobe Bryant

Mike had Game 1 of the '92 Finals.

Kobe had Game 7 of the '00 WCF and this incredible regular season performance.

You could suggest that the Blazers probably would have at least one ring in the past 25 years if it wasn't for the efforts of these two characters

In today's "Who Did Stuff Better?" we compare Mike and Kobe showing out at the Rose Garden.

Let us know if you have a preference.
