The 1996-97 season would be the last year that the 76ers wore the clean white-home, red-away jerseys that are synonymous with a young Allen Iverson tearing up the league.

AI's rookie year also marked the beginning of the end for Jerry Stackhat Stackhouse in Phili, as it became apparent that these two young stars weren't going to work out:

"...Stackhouse had openly stated on several occasions that the shoot-first mentality of Iverson had hindered his development. And though Brown would never say so publicly, he was convinced that Stackhouse or Iverson had to go."

Stackhat Stackhouse is our man, and he is a proud man.  During his playing days, it was that pride that meant he never took a backward step, from anyone.

Prior to being dealt to Detroit, the former No.3 pick managed to get into some significant scuffles whilst wearing these sharp little numbers:

We had the privilege of watching Stack in Brooklyn during his final season in the league. We happened to be sitting next to a cranky old Nets fan who was very displeased when the final play of the half resulted in Stack being forced into a tough jumper. He had some things to say about Jerry that were unkind. We sat in silence and did nothing.
As it has weighed heavily on our collective consciences for the past two years, we would like to take this opportunity to apologise to Mr Stackhouse for not punching this man.

No one in the league is currently sporting 99 though we kinda think  Mirza Teletovic should be.

Twenty years ago, the documentary Hoop Dreams was released to critical acclaim.

Just over half an hour into the film, star guard Arthur Agee is seen sporting the jersey of his idol and fellow Chicago native Isiah Thomas.

Jersey of the Week: The "Glen Rice's Mom" Sweater

The '89 NCAA Final saw Glen Rice light up the underdog Seton Hall Pirate and deny our man Gazey a fairytale finish to his College career.

It also featured possibly the greatest garment of any NCAA tournament. Glen Rice Jr's grandmother took it to the next level and she is most deserving of Jersey of the Week, regardless of the fact it is not a jersey.

Jersey of the Week: Craig Hodges NBA Generic Jersey

In the summer of 1992, the Chicago Bulls waived sharp shooter Craig Hodges.

Not being on any team's roster however didn't stop him from competing in the 1993 Three-Point Shootout.

He entered as a free agent and the the league gave him his very own generic "NBA" jersey. This jersey now hangs somewhere where we don't know where it is.

Jersey of the Week: Rasheed Wallace Bullets

A petrified Eric Bischoff was desperate to learn who Scott Hall was continually referring too in his WCW invasion promos. Turns out Eric wasn't looking hard enough.

It was Rasheed Wallace.

Jersey of the Week is the Rasheed Wallace Bullets Away strip, the most influential jersey in wrestling history.

Jersey of the Week: Fred Brown

On this day, the Seattle Supersonics won their first and only NBA championship in 1979. The captain of that squad was Downtown Freddie Brown, #WisconsinStyle pioneer and flat-out shooter. Fred Brown was the first person to lead the league in 3P% when association began recording the statistic in '79.

Nobody told us, but the film clip for the hip hop anthem "The Scientist" features an Allen Iverson home jersey circa 2002.

He did not play a regular season game with the Spurs.

Jersey of the Week: Scottie Pippen Stefanel (1991)

The Stefanel Trieste jersey attained cult status after footage emerged of Michael Jordan sporting one while shattering a backboard in Italy during a tour in 1985.

His future Dream Team teammates, Pippen, Barkley and Robinson would show up in Ital' sei anni dopo for an exhibition game between Trieste and Verona.

The Trieste jersey worn by Pippen during that game is bland in comparison to the one Mike wore, and quite frankly, we prefer Barkley's canary yellow ensemble.

However, it is it's likeness to the shirt Gerald wore every single day on Hey Arnold that has rightfully earned it jersey of the week honors.

Happy Birthday Steve Smith

It is unlikely that we will offer anything remotely close to the infamous Double Dunk ever again, but to celebrate Steve Smith's birthday please enjoy this image of Smitty celebrating in style after posterizing Big Bad Gheorghe Muresan.

Jersey of the Week: Darius Miles McDonald's High School All-American

Nearly 14 years ago to the day, Darius Miles participated in the 2000 McDonald's All-American Game. He had heaps of dunks.

From our personal collection, we have for you an over-sized replica of his jersey from that game. Maybe this is something we should not be admitting.

Jersey of the Week: George Lynch #24

In his three seasons with the Lakers, George Lynch managed to wear Kobe's number (24) and Shaq's number (34).

If this feat needs to be at all acknowledged, it may as well be here. Believe it or not he also found time to wear No. 30 at some stage before being shipped off to the Grizzlies.

This jersey was listed on eBay, but recently sold. Be sure to check daily for future offerings...

NB: The 24 jersey would be next worn by Lloyd 'Sweet Pea' Daniels, who we will get to in due course.

Jersey of the Week: Happy Birthday Kurt Rambis

Another homegrown edition of Jersey of the Week, on this occasion we pay tribute to the greatest Laker of all-time, Kurt Rambis.

For your viewing pleasure, the iconic image of Kurt impeding Tracy Jackson to free up Norm Nixon. It is likely that this indiscretion resulted in one of his six personal fouls for the evening.
